How to compress a PNG to 100 KB

  1. Drop your PNG into the box above or click Select files. The target is already set to 100 KB.
  2. The tool lowers quality step by step until the file is at or below 100 KB. If that still isn’t enough, it scales the image down a little and tells you the new dimensions.
  3. Check the result with the before/after slider, then press Download.

Need 50 KB, 200 KB or another size?

After adding a file, open Compression settings › Advanced options and type any value in Target size (KB). Common limits:

  • 20–50 KB: government and exam portals, signature and photo uploads
  • 100 KB: job portals, ID photos, forum avatars
  • 200–500 KB: marketplaces, website hero images, email newsletters

Tips for hitting a small target

  • Resize first. A 4000 px screenshot will never look good at 50 KB. Set a maximum width such as 1200 px under Resize images.
  • Fewer colors for flat graphics. Logos and icons often look identical with 32–64 colors.
  • Turn dithering down for flat logos. Keep it on for gradients.
  • Photos? PNG is the wrong format for large photos. If the portal accepts JPG, a photo will fit 100 KB far more easily. See PNG vs JPG vs WebP.

Private by design

Size limits usually come with sensitive uploads: ID photos, signatures, certificates. This tool compresses on your own device and never uploads the image, so nobody else ever sees it. Transparency is kept too.
