Compress PNG files in 3 simple steps

  1. Add your PNGs. Drag and drop files or a whole folder, click Select files, or paste an image with Ctrl/⌘+V.
  2. We compress instantly. Smart color quantization plus an OxiPNG pass shrink every file right in your browser. Open Compression settings to fine-tune.
  3. Download. Save files one by one or grab everything in a single ZIP that keeps your folder structure.

A PNG compressor that never uploads your images

Most online image compressors send your files to a server, process them there and keep them for an hour or more. This one doesn’t. Decoding, quantization, optimization and the ZIP are all done by WebAssembly inside your browser tab, so your screenshots, designs and ID photos never leave your device. Open your browser’s network panel while you compress and you’ll see no image being sent anywhere.

Because there is no server doing the work, there are also no daily caps, no 5 MB file limits and no “20 images per batch” rules.

Everything you need to shrink PNGs

  • Up to 80% smaller: palette quantization with dithering, then OxiPNG for the smallest possible file.
  • Keeps transparency: alpha channels, soft shadows and anti-aliased edges stay intact.
  • Batch and folders: drop hundreds of PNGs or a folder and get one tidy ZIP.
  • Before/after compare: inspect any result with a slider at 100% zoom on a checkerboard, white or dark background, and re-tune that image.
  • Target size and resize: hit an exact KB limit or cap the width and height.
  • Never bigger: if a result would be larger than your original, the original is kept.

Pick the right balance of size and quality

LevelBest forTypical saving
Balanced (default)Logos, icons, UI, screenshots60–80% smaller
SmallestFlat graphics, thumbnails70–90% smaller
High qualityGradients, product shots40–70% smaller
LosslessPixel-perfect assets5–30% smaller

Every level keeps transparency. Not sure which to choose? Read lossy vs lossless PNG compression.

Measured results

We ran six public test PNGs through the compressor with default settings in headless Chrome. Your results depend on the image: flat graphics shrink the most, while already-optimized files shrink less.

Why smaller PNGs matter

Images are usually the heaviest part of a web page. Smaller PNGs load faster, improve Core Web Vitals such as Largest Contentful Paint, use less mobile data and fit upload limits on forms, marketplaces and email. For more ideas, see how to reduce PNG file size.

Frequently asked questions

Drop your PNG files into the box at the top of this page or click Select files. Compression starts instantly in your browser, then you download each file or all of them as a ZIP. No sign-up and no cost.

Use the Balanced or High quality level. They reduce the palette to the colors your image really needs, which typically cuts 60–80% with no visible difference. For pixel-perfect results choose Lossless.

Yes. There is no daily cap, no batch limit and no watermark. Because everything runs on your own device, there are no server costs to charge for.

No. Your PNGs are processed locally with WebAssembly and never leave your device.

No. Full alpha transparency is preserved, including soft shadows and anti-aliased edges.

Lossy compression reduces the number of colors (quantization) for much smaller files that look the same. Lossless compression only re-encodes the file more efficiently, so every pixel stays identical but savings are smaller (typically 5–30%).

Logos, icons, screenshots and illustrations usually shrink by 60–85%. Already-optimized PNGs may shrink only slightly; if a result would be larger, the original is kept automatically.

Yes. Select or drop as many PNGs as you like, or a whole folder. Files are processed in parallel and the ZIP download keeps your folder structure.

After uploading, open Advanced options and enter a target size in KB, or use our Compress PNG to 100 KB page. The tool lowers quality until each file fits, and scales it down only if necessary.

Yes. Enable Resize in Advanced options and set a maximum width/height or a percentage. Resizing large images is often the biggest single saving.

Yes. It works in all modern browsers (Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox) on phones, tablets and computers.

The image may already be optimized, or it may be a photo with millions of colors. Try the Smallest level, lower the quality, or resize the image.
